Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Two trucks travelling to the store
truck a. is traveling 30 mph truck
truck b. is traveling 15 mph but leaves 20 seconds early
Who will arrive first?
-------------
In 20 sec the slower truck will go (20/3600)15 mph = 0.08333 miles
That leaves 0.25-0.08333 = 0.16667 miles to go.
The slower will cover that distance in 0.16667/15 = 0.0111 hrs
----
The faster truck covers the distance in 0.25/0.30 = 0.00833 hrs
-----
Ans: The faster truck will cover the distance before the slower truck arrives.
