Question 93495: Here is one more question I am having trouble with also. I would appreciate it if you could help me figure this out.
A commuter plane flies to a small town from a major airport. The average speed flying to the small town was 250mph and the average speed returning was 150mph. The total flying time was 4hr. Find the distance between the two airports. Thank you for your time.

Answer by checkley75(3666)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
250X=150(4-X)
250X=600-150X
250X+150X=600
400X=600
X=600/400
X=1.5 HOURS FOR THE 250MPH FLIGHT
4-1.5=2.5 HOUR FOR THE 150MPH FLIGHT
DISTANCE=(250*1.5)+(150*2.5)
D=(375+375)
D=750
