Two cars start from towns 400 miles apart and travel toward each other. They meet after 4 hrs. Find the rate of each car if one travels 20 mph faster than
Two cars start from towns 400 miles apart=d
let speed of one be x mph
other will be x+20 mph
and travel toward each other. add up speeds
x+x+20
=2x+20
They meet after 4 hrs.=t
t=d/r
t= 400/(2x+20) =4
400=8x+80
8x=320
x=40 mph
40 & 60 mph
