Question 916459: Kids were selling tickets for their play. Adults were $6 and children were $3. They sold 79 tickets for $375. How many kid tickets did they sell and how many adult tickets did the sell?
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x= No of adult tickets
w= No of child tickets
1 x + 1 y = 79 .............1
6 x + 3 y = 375 .............2
Eliminate y
multiply (1)by -3
Multiply (2) by 1
-3 x -3 y = -237
6 x + 3 y = 375
Add the two equations
3 x = 138
/ 3
x = 46
plug value of x in (1)
1 x + 1 y = 79
46 + y = 79
y = 79 -46
y = 33
y = 33
x= 46 No of adult tickets
w= 33 No of child tickets
