You are in an airplane that is falling at a rate of 500 feet per minute. What is that rate expressed in miles per hour?

500*(15/22)*60 =~ 5.68181818... mi/hr

500 ft/min is the "standard rate" of climb/descent for aircraft.
A "standard rate" turn is 3 degs/sec, or a 2 minute turn.

That's in IFR conditions, unless o/w directed by ATC.
