Question 913590: Lee and Carol set out from Carol’s house in separate cars to go to a concert 10 miles away. If Lee has a five-minute head start and drives at an average speed of 40 mph, how fast must Carol drive to arrive at the concert at the same time as Lee?
Answer by richwmiller(17219) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
40 mph for 10 miles
Lee arrives in 15 minutes.
Lee has a 5 minutes head start ( or 3.333 miles) so Carol must arrive in 10 minutes
60 mph is a mile a minute. So Carol will go 10 mile in 10 minutes.
