A insurance representative traveled 532 mi by commercial jet and then an additional 95 mi by helicopter. The rate of the jet was four times the rate of the helicopter. The entire trip took 2.4 h. Find the rate of the jet.
95 mi by helicopter.
rate of helicopter = x
532 mi by commercial jet
rate of jet = 4x
time for entire trip took 2.4 h.
time by jet + time by helicopter = 2.4
t=d/r
95/x +532/4x= 2.4
LCM = 4x
380 +532= 2.4*4x
912= 9.6x
x=95 speed of helicopter
speed of jet = 4*95 = 380 mph
