Question 906785: Kangaroos have been clocked at speeds of 63.0 km/h. How long will it take a kangaroo to hop 0.27 km at this speed?
Answer by JulietG(1812) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Assuming that kangaroos hop at 63.0 km/hr, divide the distance by the rate of speed: 0.27/63.0 to get 0.0042857142857 of an hour. Multiply that by 60 to get minutes: 0.257152847. Multiply that by 60 to get seconds: 15.42857 seconds. May be approximate, due to rounding. How many places do you need to take it?
You could also do it by finding out how far a kangaroo travels in a second. Divide 63.0 by 3600 (3600 seconds in an hour) to get 0.0175 km per second. Divide .27/0.0175 to get 15.42857 seconds.
