Hi,
.
Total Area of pool and walk = (9*15 + 145)ft^2
(9+x)(15+x) = 280ft^2
135 + 24x + x^2 = 280
x^2 + 24x - 145 = 0 (Tossing out the negative solution for unit measure)
(x-5)(x+29) = 0
x = 5ft
walk (on each side)= 2.5ft wide
