Question 891663: How far will Sheila travel is she is walking at 3mph and it takes 20 minutes to get to college
Answer by tutor_paul(519)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The distance traveled can be represented by:
D=RT
Where:
D=Distance
R=Rate
T=Time
You know R, given in miles per hour
You know T, given in minutes
First, you need to make sure R and T are expressed in the same units, i.e. hours.
So convert T from minutes to Hours
T(hours)=T(minutes)/60
T(hours)=20/60
Now you can write the equation for D:
D=3(20/60)
D=60/60
D=1 Mile
