Train A has a speed 20 miles per hour greater than that of train B. If train A travels 220 miles in the same times train B travels 140 miles, what are the speeds of the two trains?
let x=speed of slower train B
x+20=speed of faster train A
Travel time=distance/speed (same for both trains)
..
220x=140(x+20)
220x=140x+2800
80x=2800
x=35
x+20=55
speed of slower train B=35 mph
speed of faster train A=55 mph
