Question 882560: Flying against the wind a jet travels 7740 miles in 9 hours. Flying with the wind the same jet travels 4,080 miles in 3 hours. what is the rate of the jet in still air and what is the rate of the wind?
Answer by ewatrrr(24785)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
r - w = 7740mi/9hr = 860mph
r + w = 4080/4 = 1360mph ADD EQs to eliminate w
2r = 2220
r = 1110 mph, jet in still air
1110-860 = 250,rate of the wind
