Question 863037: two cars leave an intersection at the same time. one drives east while the other travels south at 15 miles per hour faster than the other. after 2 hours, the cars are 150 miles apart. how fast is the southbound car driving?
Answer by richwmiller(17219) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(2*(x+15))^2+(2x)^2=150^2
4*(2x^2+30 x+225) = 22500
(2x^2+30x+225) =5625
2x^2+30x+-5400=0
x^2+15x-2700=0
x=45
x+15=60
check
3,4,5 right triangle
120^2+90^2=150^2
