Let the number of dimes be x
Then number of quarters = 25 - x
Value of dimes = 10*x cents
Value of quarters = (25 - x) * 25 cents

Total value = 
Simplifying
 or 
So he has  dimes and  quarters.
Check: Sum = 11 * 10 + 14 * 25 = 110 + 350 = 460. Correct!
