Question 840847: an express train traveled 600 miles in the same amount of time it takes a freight train to travel 360 miles. The rate of the express train is 20 MPH faster than that of the freight train. Find the rate of each train
Answer by hamsanash1981@gmail.com(151) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let speed of the freight train be x, the speed of the express is x+20
Time taken express = freight
then, 600/(x+20) = 360/x
600x = 360x+ 20*360
240x = 20*360
x = 30
x+20 = 50
The rate of speed of express and freight train are 50 and 30 Kmph.
