Question 840074: crankshaft drives his car certain distance at60 mph, and arrives at his destination one hour earlier than if he had driven at50 mph. how far did he drive
Answer by isma95fb(6)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
From speed= distance/time
let 60mph=s1 and 50mph=s2
hence 60mph= distance/t1 and 50mph= distance/t2
distance= t1 x 60mph ------(i)
distance= t2 x 50mph ------(ii)
t1 x 60mph = t2 x 50mph
but t1 = t2-1
(t2 - 1) x 60mph = t2 x 50mph
60mpht2 - 60mph = 50mpht2
60mpht2-50mpht2 = 60mph
t2= 6hrs
from distance = t2 x 50mph
distance = 300 miles
