Question 837104: landon can climb a certain hill at a rate that is 1.5 mph slower than his rate coming down the hill. If it takes him 4 hours to climb the hill and 168 minutes to come down the hill, what is his rate coming down?
Answer by josgarithmetic(39623)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
r = rate going down the hill

______________speed___________time______________distance
UPHILL________r-1.5___________4________________
DOWNHILL_______r_____________168/60=2.8_________

The division by 60 for downhill is because 60 minutes make 1 hour.
Both directions are the same distance quantity.
