Question 837094: Heidi rides her bicycle 2 miles to school every day. On Monday it took her 7 minutes to ride to school and 8 minutes to ride home. What was her average speed? (Please help, this question is under the category rates. I tried some ways that do not make sense.)
Answer by josmiceli(19441) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Average speed is always:
( total distance traveled ) / ( total time spent traveling )
Total distance = mi
Total time = min
-------------------
Ave speed = mi/min
To get mi/hr, do the conversion:
( mi/min ) x ( min/hr ) = mi/hr
mi/hr
