The man's rate of running is such that if he runs toward A he will meet the train head-on at point A, and if he runs away from the train toward B the train will overtake him at point B (either way, bad luck). How fast can he run

My father actually had this happen but was working on the bridge. He hung from the bridge till the train passed.
