Question 831499: two airplanes leave Indianapolis at the same time in opposite directions one plane travels at 270 miles per hour and the other at 250 miles hour when will they be 1560 miles apart
Answer by JulietG(1812)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If they are leaving at the same time in opposite directions, then add the speed of each one together. In one hour, they will be 270+250 miles apart (520).
Now you have to figure out how long it will take to go 1560 miles at 520mph.
To do this, divide 1560miles by 520mph.
1560/520 = 3 hours <<--
