Shelly and Rachel both leave there house at the same time.
They live 252 miles apart. Rachel is going 50 MPH. and Shelly is going 55 MPH.
When will they meet?
:
Let t = their travel time when they meet
When they meet, the sum of their travel distances will equal 252 mi
Write a distance equation, dist = speed * time
50t + 55t = 252
105t = 252
t = 252/105
t = 2.4 hrs
:
:
Confirm this, find the actual distance each traveled
50*2.4 = 120 mi
55*2.4 = 132 mi
---------------
total d: 252 mi
