time = 3 hrs ; rate = x mph ; distance = 3x miles

Downstream DATA:
time = 2.5 hrs ; rate = (x+2) mph ; distance = (5/2)(x+2) miles

Equation:
distance up = distance back
3x = (5/2)x + 5
(1/2)x = 5
x = 10 mph
