Question 818587: You are taking a 6-hour train ride. During the first part of the trip, the train moves at an average speed of 65 miles per hour. During the second part of the trip, the train moves at an average speed of 40 miles per hour. Let t be the time it takes for the train to travel the first part of the trip. Write and simply an expression in terms of t for the total distance you traveled in the train. Then find the total distance you traveled if the first part of the trip took hours.
I an confused on how to set up the expression for the first part of the problem. Thank you in advance for your kind help with this.

You are taking a 6-hour train ride.
:
If t = time for the 1st part, then
(6-t) = time for the 2nd part
dist = f(t)
d = 65t + 40(6-t)
d = 65t + 240 - 40t
d = 25t + 240
:
Then find the total distance you traveled if the first part of the trip took hours. ?
Replace t with the number of hrs the first part took
