Question 812389: How would I set up this problem? A car traveled 360 miles in 4 hours to a city with the wind. The return trip took 6 hours against the wind. How fast was the car and wind traveling?
Answer by josmiceli(19441)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let = the speed of the car with no wind in mi/hr
Let = the speed of the wind in mi/hr
= the speed of the car going with the wind in mi/hr
= the speed of the car going against the wind in mi/hr
-------------------
Going with the wind:
(1)
Going against the wind:
(2)
---------------------
There are 2 equations and 2 unknowns, so it is solvable
