Q1: Two cars left at 0800 from the same point, one travelling east at 50km/h and the other travelling south at 60km/h. At what time will they be 300km apart and using a diagram to show their starting point, respective positions when they are 300km apart, direction, motion and distance travelled.
Q2: The distance travelled by both cars after 4hrs from the time they started.
Thankyou

Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
one car 50 km/h
car II 60 km/h
time they travel = t
car I distance = 50t
car II = 60t
They are moving at right angles to each other
so at any given instant they form a right triangle with origin
50t & 60t are the legs and 300 is the hypotenuse
(50t)^2+(60t)^2=300^2
2500t^2+3600t^2= 90000
6100t^2= 90000
t^2= 90000/6100
=3.84 hours
=3 50 minutes
at 11.50 am they will be 300 km apart
