Question 807971: Two cars, A and B, are 120km apart. If they travel towards each other, they will meet in one hour. If they travel in the same direction, Car A will catch up with Car B in 5 hours
Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
what is the question?
anyhow
let their speeds be x & y
Towards each other effective speed = x+y
t= d/r
120/(x+y) = 1
x+y=120..........................(1)
in the same direction effective speed = x-y
120/(x-y) =5
x-y = 24...................(2)
solve (1) & (2)
add
2x=144
x=72
you find out y
