Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First car ------------ speed ---------------x mph-----------200 miles
time first car = 200/x
Second car-----------speed ---------------(x+10) mph----------200 miles
time second car = 200/(x+10)
Time first car - time second car = 1
LCD = x(x+10)
200(x+10)-200x=1*x(x+10)
200x+2000-200x=x^2+10x
x^2+10x-2000=0
x^2+50x-40x-2000=0
x(x+50)-40(x+50)=0
(x+50)(x-40)=0
x= 40 OR -50
ignore negative
x= 40 speed of first car
speed of second car = 40+10 = 50 mph
