a boat took 3hr to make a trip down stream with a 6 mph current, the return trip against the same current took 5hr, find the speed of the boat in still waters
***
let x=speed of boat in still waters
x+6=speed of boat with current
x-6=speed of boat against current
distance=travel time*speed
..
3(x+6)=5(x-6)
3x-18=5x-30
2x=12
x=6
speed of boat in still waters=6 mph
