Question 803188: The distance between two stations A and B is 300 km. Two motor cyclists start simultaneously from A and B in the opposite directions and the distance between them after three hours is 30 km. In there hours they both have traveled 270 km. (300-30)
speed of one be x
the speed of other = x-10
they are moving towards each other
so combined speed = x+x-10
=2x-10 km/h
t=d/r
3= 270/(2x-10)
2x-10 = 270/3
2x-10 = 90
2x=90+10
2x=100
x= 50
speed of one is 50 km/h
the speed of other = 50-10 = 40 km/h
