One bus left the city at 2:00PM and averaged 75 km/h. Another bus, traveling in the opposite direction, left the city at 5:00PM and averaged 85 km/h. At what time were the buses 705 km apart?
time difference between Bus I and Bus II = 3 hours
Bus I travels 75*3 = 225 kmin 3 hours
Total distance = 705
difference = 705-225=480
they are travelling in opposite directions
so add speeds 75+85=160 km/h
t= d/r
t=480/160 = 3 hours
Bus II starts at 5.00 pm
so they will be 705 km away at 8.00 pm
