Question 799039: Two planes at the same time leave John F. Kennedy International Airport at 9:30am. One plane flies 100 mph faster than the other plane. In two hours the two planes will be 2,000 miles apart. What is the speed of each plane?
Answer by Finavon(81) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Assume flying in OPPOSITE directions and constant speeds:
Speed S and (S+100) {distance in 1 hour}
in 1 hour 1000 miles apart
S + (S+100) = 1000
2S = 900
Speeds are 450 and 550 mph
