Speed of plane = x
Flying against wind = x - 7mph
Flying with wind = x + 7mph
3.2 * (x - 7mph) = 3 * (x + 7mph)
3.2x - 22.4 = 3x + 21
Collect like terms
3.2x - 3x = 21 + 22.4
0.2x = 43.4
x = 217 mph
This is the speed of the plane.
