4 cars go around a race track in 1 min 0 sec, 1 min 12 sec, 2 min 0 sec and 1 min 30 sec.
How long will it be until they pass the starting point together again.
Find the LCM
:
Change to seconds
1 min = 60 sec
1 min 12 sec = 72 sec
2 min = 120 sec
1 min 30 sec = 90 sec
:
Find the LCM by prime factoring
60: 2*2*3*5
72: 2*2*2*3*3
120: 2*2*2*3*5
90: 2*3*3*5
:
2*2*2*3*3*5 = 360 seconds or 6 minutes
