Question 790869: Trying to solve the following:
a train makes 6 stops of equal length during its 21 km run. the train is actually moving for 20 min of the trip. At most how long can the train remain at each station if the average speed for the trip, including stops, is to be at least 36 km/h?
so far i have 20 + 6x < or = ?36?

The TIME for the trip including all six stops is Hour. Simplified, this time expression is hour. An adjustment might be needed if the sixth stop is to be AT the final distination, but assuming that the six stops occur BEFORE the final destination, the average rate or speed of 36 km/h can be equated this way:

Finding the legnth of each stop, x, is fairly simple algebra steps from that.
