let x be the distance driven in town--------rate 35mph
3x is the distance on country road-----------rate 55 mph
Time on country road + time on town roads = 3
t=d/r
x/35 + 3x/55 = 3
(55x+105x)/35*55=3
160x=35*55*3
/160
x=(35*55*3)/160
x= 36.09
3x=36*3=108.28 miles ( rounded off)
3x=3*36.09=108.28
Total distance = 144.38 miles
