Question 778221: Mark drives a large truck. His truck gets 4.4 miles per gallon on average. Mark's boss has sked him to take a business trip of 55 miles to deliver a product. Answer by josgarithmetic(39620) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Assign variables to everything.
E = fuel efficiency, 4.4 mpg
d = distance expected, 55 miles
p = diesel fuel price, 3.67 dollars per gallon
y = cost expected for the trip just in fuel, unknown. Dollars.
Start with d, and use the ratios E and p. You are looking for a formula for y. Just watch the units carefully in forming your formula.
y=d*(?)*(?)
