Question 773508: helen rode her bicycle 6 km east, 4 km west, and then 5 km east. how far is she from her starting point?

Answer by ramkikk66(644)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
East and west are opposite directions.
1) She rides 6 km east.
2) She then rides 4 km west i.e. in the reverse direction. So she ends up at a
place (6-4 = 2) km east from where she started.
3) She is now 2 km east from the start, and then again rides 5 km east.
So she ends up finally at a point 7 km east from the start.
As simple as that :)
