a train left a station at noon going 40 mph. a second train left at 3 p.m. going 60mph. at what time will the second train catch up to the first
The distance traveled by two trains will be same when they meet. Only the times are different
Let them meet after time t after the first train starts
distance traveled by first train =40t
time taken by second train = 60(t-3) ( it starts 3 hours late)
40t=60(t-3)
40t=60t-180
20t=180
t=9
The second train will catch up at 9.00 pm
