Question 768151: if two person start from same place and same time and walk in opposite directions 3miles and both turn towards their left and walk 4 miles .
what is the distance between them.

Answer by Cromlix(4381)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
It will form two right angled
triangles end to end.
The distance between them will
be the sum of their hypotenuses
Base^2 + Side^2 = Hypotenuse^2
4^2 + 3^2 = Hypotenuse^2
16 + 9 = Hypotenuse^2
Hypotenuse =
Hypotenuse = 5 miles
So, distance apart is 2 * 5 miles
= 10 miles.
Hope this helps.
