rate of one car = 60
time of one car = t {started at same point and time}
distance of one car = 60t {distance = rate x time}
rate of other car = 65
time of other car = t {started at same point and time}
distance of other car = 65t {distance = rate x time}
60t + 65t = 375 {the combined distances equal 375}
125t = 375 {combined like terms}
t = 3 hours {divided each side by 125}
distance of one car = 60t
= 60(3) {traveled for 3 hours}
= 180 miles {multiplied}
distance of other car = 65t
= 65(3) {traveled for 3 hours}
= 195 miles {multiplied}
one car traveled 180 miles
the other car traveled 195 miles
