Question 764884: An airplane which travels 180 miles per hour leaves the airport 8.5 hours after a ship sailed. if it overtakes the ship in 1 hour and 30 minutes, find the rate of the ship.
Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Distance = Speed * Time.
Aeroplane's speed * time = Ships speed * Time
180mph * 1.5 hrs = xmph * 10 hrs
270 = 10x
x = 27 mph
This is the ship's speed.
Hope this helps
