Question 758356: The speed of a vehicle is inversely proportional to the time it takes to travel a fixed distance. If a vehicle travels a fixed distance at 60 miles per hour in 45 minutes, how fast must it travel to cover the same distance in 10 minutes?
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The speed of a vehicle is inversely proportional to the time it takes to travel a fixed distance.
s = k/t
------
solve for "k" using "If a vehicle travels a fixed distance at 60 miles per hour in 45 minutes"
------
60 = k/(3/4)
k = 45
Equation:
s = 45/t
==================
How fast must it travel to cover the same distance in 10 minutes?
s = 45/(1/6)
speed = 270 mph
