Question 755611: It takes a boat on the river 4 hours to travel 24 miles downstream and 6 hours to travel the same distance back upstream. What is the speed of he current of the river?
Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Travelling downstream speed would be 24 miles/ 4 hrs = 6 mph
Travelling upstream speed would be 24 miles / 6 hrs = 4 mph
6 mph - 4 mph = 2 mph.
This would be the speed of the current.
Hope this helps
