Cindy is driving to her grandma's house a distance of 420 miles. She left at 8 am driving 65 mph. At noon, she stopped an hour for lunch. What speed should she drive to get to her grandmas by 5pm ?
Distance to grandma's house is 420 miles.
8 am to noon = 4 hours
65 * 4 = 260 miles
420 - 260 = 160
Cindy stopped for an hour for lunch between noon and 1.00 pm.
5 pm - 1 pm = 4 hours
Therefore:
160 / 4 = 40 miles per hour.
Answer:
40 miles per hour.
