Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The base of a ladder is 12 feet away from the wall. The top of the ladder is 13 feet from the floor. Find the length of the ladder to the nearest thousandth.
---------
Draw the picture of the rt. triangle formed by the wall, floor, and ladder.
Use Pythagoras to find the length of the ladder.
ladder^2 = 12^2 + 13^2
ladder^2 = 144 + 169=313
ladder = 17.693 ft.
