Convert 8 days , 22 hours, 46 minutes, and 2 seconds to seconds. This looks like
So 8 days , 22 hours, 46 minutes, and 2 seconds is equal to 773,162 seconds. Do the same thing to the other racer. Convert 9 days, 11 hours, 11 minutes, and 36 seconds.
So the other racer did the race in 817,896 seconds. Plug these 2 times into the equation
where d=1112
Racer 1

So the first racer's average speed was 0.00144 mi/sec which converts to 5.04 mi/hr
Racer 2

So the second racer's average speed was 0.00136 mi/sec which converts to 4.896 mi/hr.
Now we must find the positive difference between the two speeds

So the positive difference in speed is 0.144 mi/hr. Of course all of these figures are approximate values.
