Question 737391: What must be the rate in miles per hour of a truck if it wants to make a 20 mile trip in 40 minutes
Answer by Susan-math(40)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Distance = (rate)*(time) so we write d=rt
D=20 miles
R=?
T=40 minutes=40/60 hours=2/3
So 20=r (2/3)
Multiply both sides by the reciprocal of 2/3, (which is 3/2) to get r alone.
So r = 20(3/2)=60/2=30 mph
Check: rate*time= (30)(2/3)=20 miles
