Let s = speed of the cargo plane
then
(s+75) = speed of the pass plane
:
let d = distance between the two cities

Write an time equation for each plane's trip
d/s = 4
therefore:
d = 4s
and
d/(s+75) = 3
:
replace d with 4s
= 3
4s = 3(s+75)
4s = 3s + 225
4s - 3s = 225
s = 225 mph is the speed of the cargo plane
