Question 734319: a motorist travels 60 miles while driving in the rain. In sunny weather, he drives 21 mph faster and covers 96 miles in the same amount of time. what is the speed in the rain and the speed in sunny weather? Please help me solve this problem.
Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Time 60 miles in rain = time 96 miles in sun
speed in rain = x
speed in sun = x+21
time in rain = 60/x
Time in sun = 96/(x+21)
60/x= 96/(x+21)
60(x+21) = 96x
60x+1260=96x
36x=1260
x=35 km/h
