Question 715159: Two trains leave the station at the same time, one heading west and the other east. The westbound train travels at 90 miles per hour. The eastbound train travels at 80 miles per hour. How long will it take for the two trains to be 442 miles apart?
Answer by josmiceli(19441)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Since they are heading directly opposite
eachother, you can think of 1 train as
standing still and the other train as
moving at the sum of their speeds
------------------
Let = time in hrs

In 2 hrs and 36 min, they will be 442 mi apart
